Chromenta HPLC columns and chromatography mediaChromenta HPLC and UHPLC Columns

Chromenta by Columnex is a series of HPLC columns designed to have the highest quality while maintaining competitive pricing. We offer a large selection of chromatography phases including the most-widely used silica-based C18, polymer-coated pH-stable C18, 100% aqueous durable amino, C30, HILIC, HIC, fluorinated, ion-exclusion, and ion-exchange. Our constant innovation and active R&D process allow us to continuously introduce new phases and formats. Please contact Columnex for the latest available products and promotions.

What is the difference among KB, BB, and EP HPLC columns?

Chromenta - all silica-based columns are made from type-B ultra-pure spherical silica particles (purity > 99.999%)

KB and BB have the same chemistry, the biggest difference between them is the pore size, 120A and 300A respectively. The pH and temperature ranges are set conservatively. KAQ is 100% aqueous-compatible C18 columns with pore size of 100A.

Chromenta KB / KAQ and Chromenta BB HPLC Columns

The difference between Chromenta KB and BB HPLC columns is the pore size of 120A and 300A respectively. Both KB and BB HPLC columns are packed with type-B ultrapure silica particles (purity > 99.999%) that has been specially treated to eliminate micropores. Proprietary packing technology further enhances uniform column media distribution to minimize channeling effects. Available phases are C18, C8, C4, CN, NH2, CN, and phenyl-propyl, all double end-capped to further minimize tailing. KAQ-C18 (100% water compatible) and bare-silica HILIC are both available. All KB and BB HPLC columns have particle sizes in 3um, 5um, and 10um for easy scale up. KB columns are for small molecule analyses. BB columns are for larger biomolecules such as peptides and proteins.

Chromenta EP HPLC Columns - Aqueous Durable Amino HPLC Columns in HILIC mode

EP series HPLC columns are packed with polymer-coated silica particles for extended pH range stable from pH 2.0 to 12.0. EP stands for "Extended pH" range. The Chromenta EP phases use our proprietary bonding chemistry that results in more uniform bonded phases on the surface.  They are extensively double end-capped using proprietary process to ensure the best peak shapes of polar, acidic and basic compounds. Available phases are C18, C8, C4, NH2, CN, and phenyl-hexyl in 3um and 5um particle sizes with 120A pores.

Amino columns have been very popular in the analysis of sugars, sugar-alcohol, and other polar molecules in HILIC mode. However, silica-based amino columns are known to have poor reproducibility and extremely short column life time if the mobile phase has an aqueous component. Polymer-based amino HPLC columns are stable, but most suffer from worse peak efficiency and weaker physical characteristics. Chromenta EP-NH2, an aminopropyl HPLC column, has overcome these short-comings by combining the best of both silica and polymer. The Chromenta EP-NH2 in 3um and 5um particles 120A pore sizes are stable in 100% water from pH 2.0 to 12.0. It has the efficiency of silica-based columns while retaining the chemical strength of polymer-based columns. One can expect a significant contribution of this HPLC column in food science, glycomics, and post-translational modification characterizations.

Chromenta Specialty HPLC Columns - fluorinated, ion-exchange, ion-exclusion, C30, PAH, low-pH-stable C18, diol

Chromenta HPLC columns include other specialty phases to further expand your solution options.  The alkyl- and phenyl-fluorinated phases provide a complementary separation to other reversed phase C8 and phenyl. Both KF-C8 and KF-Phenyl (pentafluorophenyl, PFP) can be used for the analysis of perfluorinated compounds as environmental contaminants. C30 phase is used for structurally-similar hydrophobic molecules separations such as carotenoids. The PAH HPLC columns are for the analysis of 16 polyaromatic hydrocarbon pollutants in EPA method 610 with high resolution.
